A POEM MADE IN HEAVEN
SINNER before... SAINT after
WHO KNOWS…GOD KNOW
I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.
But it was the folk in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the crackheads,
The alcoholics and the trash.
There stood the dude from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money! Twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.
Pookie, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was straight chilling on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.
'And why's everyone so quiet
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.'
JUDGE NOT.
Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian
Any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
Every saint has a PAST...Every sinner has a FUTURE
PRAYER
I once was a stranger to grace and to God,
I knew not my danger and felt not a load;
Though friends spoke in ecstasy of Christ on the cross
Jehovah-tsidkenu was nonsense to me.
When free grace awoke me, by light from on high,
Then legal fears shook me, I trembled so horrified;
No refuge, no safety, in self could I see;
Jehovah-tsidkenu my savior must be.
My terrors all vanished before the sweet name;
My guilty fears banished, with boldness I came
To drink at the fountain, life-giving and free;
Lord Christ Jesus is all things to me.
SCRIPTURES
Psalm 103:8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 He does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His love for those who fear Him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him
Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD”
5 “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling”
Luke 15:21 “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against You. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Please forgive me.”
